Buffalo Plaid for Summer

I mostly associate buffalo plaid (& plaid in general) with cooler temperatures and cozy fall styles. But who says you can’t wear buffalo plaid in the middle of summer? This black and white take on the traditional red buffalo plaid print feels more like gingham to me, which I think is 100% appropriate for the summer season. (But I can’t wait to transition this pretty into fall too!)

The classic cut of this midi skirt reminds me of something straight out of the 1950s.  (Which I love!) For one, my grandmother still wears skirts cut in this same silhouette! But I like to imagine chic Betty Draper rocking this midi skirt to one of her many ladies luncheons. (I mean, Betty would probably be my grandmother’s age right about now if the show didn’t give her such a tragic ending. Poor Birdie!)
I’m going to share with you all just one more accessory I am loving at the moment! (If you’re following me on instagram, you may have caught a glimpse of it last night!) This JORD wood watch has been on my wrist pretty much everyday since it came out if it’s box.  The Fieldcrest watch has a plain natural wood finish, which makes it easy to style with just about everything.  Plus, I like that the face isn’t too big. Remember that trend where everyone was wearing these huge watches for a while? This size is much more manageable.  ðŸ™‚
Hope you all are having a fabulous Wednesday so far! I mentioned last week that we had friends in town over the weekend, and oh my goodness we all had such a good time! In just three short days, here are a “few” things we managed to do while exploring Houston: Jimmy Buffet Concert, St. Arnold’s Brewery Tour, Top Golf, Rice Village, Astros Game, brunch at Liberty Kitchen, El Tiempo, 19th Street in the Heights, Market Square in Downtown, Torchy’s & finally finished it off with a big cook out. This girl is exhausted! And also very full of Mexican Food. (But there is nothing wrong with that, right?)
It was such a great weekend spent with our friends from Tennessee and I’m already looking forward to the next reunion! As of now, Patrick and I are recovering this week with healthy salads, netflix marathons, & down time with the pups.  It all balances each other out, right?
As always, thanks for stopping by the blog!
